Some things to expect your child’s week
Exciting Activities
Chi Rho campers get to enjoy all the beach camp favorites – boogie boarding in the ocean, competitive games of volleyball and basketball, music and drama, and crazy all-camp games that get everyone involved. We tap into their energy with team challenges, talent shows, and maybe even a sunrise beach walk or two for the early risers!
Faith & Life Talks
Each day includes a Bible lesson and discussion geared to this age group. We tackle topics that Chi Rho youth care about – friendship, acceptance, making good decisions, dealing with stress – and see what wisdom the Bible offers. No question is off limits. Our approachable camp pastor and counselors make it safe for campers to ask tough questions about faith, doubt, and life. We emphasize that God’s love is unconditional and real for them in their everyday lives.
Creative Expression
Middle school is a time when kids start discovering who they are. We provide opportunities for creative expression like art projects, talent night performances, praise dance, journaling, and cabin skits. Campers often surprise themselves with new talents or the courage to get on stage in front of their peers.
Community & Belonging
Early teens long to belong, and at Chi Rho Camp everyone has a place. Through small group discussions, cabin devotions, and team-building exercises, we create a strong sense of Christian community. Many campers say they feel they can “be themselves” at camp in a way they can’t elsewhere. Our staff actively promotes respect, inclusion, and zero tolerance for bullying – camp is a kindness zone.
Role Models
Chi Rho campers are mentored by slightly older teen leaders (Counselors-in-Training or junior counselors) in addition to adult leaders. These near-peer mentors really get what it’s like to be a middle schooler and serve as positive Christian role models. Campers often look up to them and realize that growing in faith can be cool and not just for grown-ups.
